Youtube Minimum requirements and monetization policies

Youtube changed the minimum requirements for channel monetization. However, while this change in monetization policies has certainly affected the revenue by some of our clients, the policy change was actually applied starting in February 20th 2018.

According to the latest changes in YouTube’s Policy and requirements for monetization of content, we inform you of the new requirements for monetization in videos and channels:
  • More than 10.000 plays in the video
  • More than 4.000 hours of watch time (annually)
  • More than 1.000 subscribers in the channel that hosts the video

Only videos and channels that comply with these requirements, could be sharing monetization with rights owners. Therefore, this update in policy is very likely to have a negative effect on your expected YouTube Content-ID revenue.
